(2026.05.11. Comfort from the Holy Spirit)
God does not only look at the offering a person brings. He also examines whether the heart of the one offering it is pleasing to Him. Long ago, Cain brought some of the produce from the ground as an offering to God, but God did not accept Cain or his offering. Cain became very angry, and his face fell. Many people think that as long as they offer something to God, He will surely accept it. But that is not true. What God values is not simply whether a person is willing to give. He looks at whether a person comes before Him with a heart of reverence, obedience, honesty, and holiness. God does not delight in people serving Him according to their own human desires or merely through outward actions. Only what is offered by those who walk in the truth and come before Him with reverence and holiness is pleasing to God.
Today, some people believe they are serving the Lord faithfully, yet they continue to live in confusion, pain, and without peace. Such people should quietly come before God, learn from the teaching of the Bible, and reflect on the lives of the faithful people of old. They should examine whether their faith has drifted away from the true path and whether the way they are living is pleasing to God. If they are going through trials, they should endure with faith and ask the Lord for strength, so that their lives may be purified through testing and bear spiritual fruit. But if their hardship is not a trial and is instead God’s discipline, they should examine whether they are still living in sin, whether they have not yet put off their old self, whether they are still living according to the flesh, or whether they are still serving God according to their own ideas, human nature, and methods. None of these are pleasing to God.
Always put Christ first, seek God’s will, and surrender the authority over your life to the Lord Jesus. Do not make yourself the center of your life or simply follow your own desires. Instead, prepare yourself to become someone whom God accepts and can use. Let the truth remain in your heart, understand God’s righteousness, learn to distinguish between good and evil, and do what is right in God’s sight.
As you serve the Lord, continually examine yourself and pay attention to whether your actions have drifted away from God’s will. What God truly cares about is whether a person’s soul is saved and whether that person’s life is being transformed. Never do anything that harms your spiritual life or leads people away from the truth. Always keep a heart that fears God, so that you will not become weak or cause those around you to stumble.
When you see others serving the Lord, do not be quick to judge them, and do not measure them only by what you see on the outside. Only God examines the human heart. He knows whether a person truly fears Him, whether that person has a pure and honest heart, and whether that person faithfully walks in the path God has shown.
Do not measure your future reward by how much work you have done. What truly matters is whether what you do is in line with God’s will, whether it genuinely builds up people’s lives in the truth, helps them grow spiritually, and fulfills the work God has entrusted to them. If a person eventually turns away from God’s path, then no matter how hard that person appeared to work, it will all have been in vain.
Whether a person’s offering is acceptable to God is for God alone to examine. Judgment also belongs to Him. In the end, everyone will have to give an account to God and face the path they have chosen throughout their lives. Therefore, always remain humble and learn to come quietly before the Lord.
Learn to recognize your own weaknesses through the things you experience. Humbly receive the Lord’s teaching and turn back to God. Do not become bitter or resentful. Do not allow your experiences to make you doubt God. Otherwise, you may end up walking farther and farther down the wrong path.
