(2026.02.02 – The Encouragement of the Holy Spirit)
Those who have received the Lord’s calling and already belong to Him, whose souls now belong to the Lord, must understand how to live in this ungodly and rebellious generation, and understand how to live among unbelievers.
You must be set apart as holy, abstain from the lusts of the flesh, no longer remain as Gentiles who have nothing to do with the Lord, and no longer live as people of the flesh who allow the world and the devil to lure and feed them. Instead, you must become people who are closely connected with the Lord and belong to the household of God.
By relying on the truth, resist Satan and the temptations of sin. Fight earnestly for your soul by guarding your heart, refusing to follow the flesh, and dealing with the desires of the flesh, because following those desires will lead to the corruption of life.
For those who belong to the Lord, the inheritance you are to receive has already been prepared by God. It is in heaven, not on the earth.
If you understand the truth, then you must acknowledge that you are strangers and pilgrims in this world, and that your life no longer belongs to the world.
Since we are only temporary residents on the earth, our eyes and the direction of our efforts should not be focused on the world, but should be fixed on the eternal things in heaven.
God’s will for us is that we do good, walk on the path of righteousness, and live out a new life.
Because the Lord Himself bore our sins and took upon Himself the punishment that our sins deserved, and by the wounds He suffered our souls are healed. Since the Lord has personally removed the problem of sin, people can be reconciled with God.
Since we have died to sin and have been freed from its control, we must no longer let sin be the master of our lives, but put off the old self and live in righteousness.
In every day we live on earth, we must follow the example of the Lord Jesus. When we face injustice, misunderstanding, insults, slander, deceit, and accusations from wicked people, we must endure patiently, without evil thoughts or evil words, and without sharing in sin.
The Lord also suffered for us and left us an example so that we may follow in the footsteps of the Lord Jesus during His time on earth.
Those who are called by the Lord are meant to remain steadfast in not committing sin no matter what situation they face, and to keep their mouths free from deceit.
We must not make ourselves the master of our lives, nor seek to defend our own justice. Instead, we must remain on God’s righteous path and entrust ourselves to the Lord who judges righteously. In this way the Lord becomes the true ruler of our lives, and with the help of the Holy Spirit our lives are renewed so that we live in the righteousness that pleases God, walking in truth, light, and holiness, no longer living for ourselves but living for God and living out a new life that belongs to Him.
Scripture
Psalm
Chapter 119 Verses 1–3
“Blessed are the undefiled in the way,
who walk in the law of the LORD.
Blessed are they that keep his testimonies,
and that seek him with the whole heart.
They also do no iniquity:
they walk in his ways.”
Proverbs
Chapter 4 Verses 20–23
“My son, attend to my words;
incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Let them not depart from thine eyes;
keep them in the midst of thine heart.
For they are life unto those that find them,
and health to all their flesh.
Keep thy heart with all diligence;
for out of it are the issues of life.”
Philippians
Chapter 2 Verses 14–16
“Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke,
in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation,
among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Holding forth the word of life;
that I may rejoice in the day of Christ,
that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.”
Romans
Chapter 8 Verses 11–14
“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you,
he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies
by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die:
but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God,
they are the sons of God.”
Micah
Chapter 6 Verse 8
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good;
and what doth the LORD require of thee,
but to do justly, and to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with thy God?”
