(2025.12.19 The Encouragement of the Holy Spirit)
Those who have already believed in the Lord should live a life that glorifies God and benefits others—a life that truly reflects being born again and renewed by the truth as a new creation. God is the God who gives peace and joy. He delivers people from evil, protects them from the devil’s temptations, saves souls, and grants eternal life. Therefore, believers should submit to those in authority and obey the Lord’s commandments. By earnestly longing to know God and understand the truth, they will gain the ability to do all kinds of good works.
Those who listen to the teaching of Scripture and walk the righteous path according to the Lord’s instructions will have their lives transformed by the help of the Holy Spirit and renewed into what is good. The biblical truth revealed by God is meant to help people walk the path of righteousness and move toward holiness. It is not merely doctrine or knowledge about God, but truth that guides people to live godly lives. Therefore, it is not enough to only receive and be taught; one must also obey and proclaim it, so that everyone may benefit.
The life of a Christian can be seen, because it is marked by righteous actions and by a life that bears the fruit of righteousness. Those who are saved must live in a way that reflects their salvation, both in how they live and in the kind of life they truly live within.
Do not slander others. Do not attack or defame people with words, and do not spread negative or untrue statements. Slander not only harms others and causes them to stumble, but also damages one’s own spiritual life, revealing a failure to resist the evil thoughts stirred up by the enemy in the heart. Do not quarrel or stir up disputes; instead, always pursue peace, treat others with gentleness, and maintain a heart of patience and tolerance. For you yourselves once lived in sin—ignorant and not knowing God; rebellious, unwilling to submit to the truth, and refusing to let God be Lord, choosing instead to rule yourselves. You were deceived by the devil and misled by worldly trends, false ideas, worldly values, and false freedom, straying from the right path and becoming bound by sin. Desires and pleasures became the center of life, serving all kinds of lusts and indulgences. Your hearts were often filled with malice and envy, feeling resentment when others prospered, living in bitterness and ill will. From this, bitter roots grew, defiling many and robbing people of peace and joy.
Always maintain a heart of gratitude, for our Savior Jesus Christ gave Himself to save the lives of sinners so that the world might be saved. Without God’s mercy, love, and patience, how could anyone have the opportunity to be born again? You should also imitate the love of Christ, being salt and light in the world and living out the life of Christ. Give birth to hearts of mercy, humility, and thankfulness; live with love and goodness, and treat one another in peace.
Learning the way of God’s kingdom is not merely for gaining wisdom, but for walking according to the truth and living a life that glorifies God and benefits others. When people see good deeds, they will give glory to the Father in heaven, and you yourselves will also receive benefit. May all praise and thanksgiving be given to God forever and ever.
Scripture
Titus
Chapter 3 Verses 1–7
Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers,
to obey magistrates,
to be ready to every good work,
To speak evil of no man,
to be no brawlers, but gentle,
shewing all meekness unto all men.
For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived,
serving divers lusts and pleasures,
living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to his mercy he saved us,
by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
That being justified by his grace,
we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
James
Chapter 1 Verses 21–25
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness,
and receive with meekness the engrafted word,
which is able to save your souls.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only,
deceiving your own selves.
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer,
he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way,
and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein,
he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work,
this man shall be blessed in his deed.
