Is your heart truly waiting for My return? Or do you still love the world and value the things of it more?

Be still and reflect. Examine your heart—what is the real purpose of your faith? What are you truly longing to gain?

Search your heart and see if it is still drawn to this world.

Think carefully—what does this world really give you?

In this world, people labor all their lives because of the needs of the flesh.

They work hard with their hands to earn food, living under constant burdens and worries.

Day after day passes in the same routine until a person returns to dust.

If one’s hope is only for this life, when leaving this world, nothing can be taken along—how pitiful that is!

Such is the life of those who belong to the world: busy on the surface, yet without any eternal value.

People of the world place their hope only in this life.

They serve their own appetites and obey the desires of the flesh—greedy for wealth, fame, and power.

They are proud and arrogant, delight in cursing, and live only for pleasure.

They indulge their lusts and satisfy their selfish desires; their stomach becomes their god.

They do what is against My will, setting their minds not on heavenly things but on the things of the world.

In doing so, they continually sow the fruit of the flesh and store up My wrath.

Those who live like this belong to the devil—they are enemies of Christ, and their end is destruction.

You who have been called by grace must no longer live as the world does.

Turn away from the idols in your heart and serve the true and living God.

I am the One who created you. My kingdom is not of this world, and you are not of this world.

Set your mind on the things above, on the home in heaven.

What truly has value in this life is preparing yourself to return to your heavenly home.

Use well the time I have given you, and prepare to enter that holy kingdom.

I came so that you may have life, and have it more abundantly.

I came to free you from the curse of sin and from the coming wrath.

Be rich in faith, trust in the truth, and in trials let your faith be strengthened—overcome temptations and hardships.

Be filled with the Holy Spirit and receive strength, so that your faith produces works and your hope becomes real.

With the love I have given you, love others as yourself—give willingly and labor selflessly for the salvation of souls.

No matter what circumstances you are in, wait patiently for My coming and hold firmly to eternal life.

Since you have believed in the Lord, live a new life; for one day you will rise again with Me, receive eternal life, and share in everlasting glory.

Scripture

James

Chapter 5 Verse 5

“You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence.

You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.”

1 Corinthians

Chapter 15 Verse 19

“If in Christ we have hope in this life only,

we are of all people most to be pitied.”

Philippians

Chapter 3 Verses 18-21

“For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears,

walk as enemies of the cross of Christ.

Their end is destruction,

their god is their belly,

and they glory in their shame,

with minds set on earthly things.

But our citizenship is in heaven,

and from it we await a Savior,

the Lord Jesus Christ,

who will transform our lowly body to be like His glorious body,

by the power that enables Him even to subject all things to Himself.”

James

Chapter 5 Verses 7-8

“Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord.

See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth,

being patient about it,

until it receives the early and the late rains.

You also, be patient.

Establish your hearts,

for the coming of the Lord is at hand.”

1 Peter

Chapter 5 Verses 8-10

“Be sober-minded; be watchful.

Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion,

seeking someone to devour.

Resist him, firm in your faith,

knowing that the same kinds of suffering

are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

And after you have suffered a little while,

the God of all grace,

who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ,

will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

Hebrews

Chapter 13 Verse 14

“For here we have no lasting city,

but we seek the city that is to come.”
