(2026.02.02 The Encouragement of the Holy Spirit)
After believing in the Lord, you must be like newborn babies who long for pure spiritual milk. Just as a newborn child draws pure milk from its mother without any mixture, believers today should likewise long for the Word of God, pursue the truth, delight in drawing near to the Lord, and remain faithful in a life of devotion and Bible reading. Because of this longing for God’s Word, a person will ask for wisdom from above, and the Lord will surely give it to those who sincerely seek Him, granting them words that come from Him—pure and without mixture. The truth cleanses a person’s heart, leaving no room for sin, and causes a person to hate sin.
And when a person understands the truth, he will be able to practice righteousness, removing all former evil, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and every kind of slander.
Those who are chosen are precious in God’s sight, because their lives are no longer the same as the people of the world. After believing in the Lord, a person should follow the footsteps of the Lord Jesus while He was on earth. The Lord is the living stone who gives life, therefore a person must come near to that living stone—that is, come before the Lord and be joined to Him. For only in the Lord can a person have new life and be built up into a spiritual house, becoming a spiritual person. If one still lingers in the world and does not enter into the Lord, and if his life continues to be fed by the world, then he will be built into a person of the flesh and of the world. The days he lives will be no different from those of the world, his life will not be renewed, and he will still be spiritually dead. However, since today we are those who have been called and redeemed, and since the authority over our lives now belongs to the Lord, we should diligently serve Him, no longer following the flesh or living according to our own fleshly desires.
In the past, God commanded people to build the temple so that they would know that His presence and His authority were there. Only the priests could serve God in the temple, because they were chosen and set apart as holy to serve the holy and glorious God. Now, those who are chosen must also be set apart as holy and become holy, and they must build the temple—building their own spiritual house. Through the redemption of Christ, God no longer dwells in temples made by human hands, but lives within those who belong to the Lord. All who are baptized into the Lord and belong to Him should be like living stones, filled with the Holy Spirit, and built up as God’s temple. This spiritual house must be built upon the truth, with Christ as the cornerstone of our spiritual life and the foundation of our lives. In this way, the spiritual house that is built will be firm, and people will learn the pattern of the Lord, so that in the building of life and in daily conduct, believers will walk according to the pattern of Christ and walk on the path that pleases the Lord.
Everything that is done is for the purpose of remaining in salvation, so that spiritual life may gradually grow and mature, and that the glory of God may be revealed in us.
Scripture
Psalm
Chapter 19 Verses 7-9
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:
the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever:
the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
Ezekiel
Chapter 36 Verses 25-27
Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean:
from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you:
and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh,
and I will give you an heart of flesh.
And I will put my spirit within you,
and cause you to walk in my statutes,
and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
1 Kings
Chapter 8 Verses 27-29
But will God indeed dwell on the earth?
behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee;
how much less this house that I have builded?
Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant,
and to his supplication, O LORD my God,
to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer,
which thy servant prayeth before thee to day:
That thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day,
even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there:
that thou mayest hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.
1 Peter
Chapter 2 Verses 4-5
To whom coming, as unto a living stone,
disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house,
an holy priesthood,
to offer up spiritual sacrifices,
acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
