(February 20, 2026. The Encouragement of the Holy Spirit)
Those whom the Lord loves are people who fear God and stay away from evil; their hearts hate the things God does not delight in; when evil comes before them, they turn away from the path of sin and do not let themselves fall into the traps set by the evil one; they love what is upright, and they love what God sees as right; they do not live by the values of the world; they make God the center of their lives and are determined to live in a way that pleases Him; they understand that those who please God will walk on the path of righteousness, and what they do will glorify God, build up others, and bear good fruit;
Those whom the Lord loves are humble and obedient people; they do not rely on their own understanding, but trust completely in God’s guidance; they place their whole lives into God’s hands and no longer make themselves the lord of their own lives, but hand over the authority of their lives to God; they treasure knowing God above all else and see everything else as secondary; they do not forget God’s teaching, they carefully keep His commandments in their hearts, and they truly carry out the Lord’s will in daily life;
Those whom the Lord loves are willing to repent; they often examine themselves, see their own weakness, and are willing to admit their sins; because they understand that sin becomes a barrier between people and God, making them unable to draw near to God and causing them to leave His presence; sin causes people to lose the true peace that comes from God, leaves their conscience burdened, and keeps them from standing before God with confidence; they know that if they do not repent, their lives cannot continue in the light of fellowship with God, and they also cannot receive the eternal life God has promised; therefore, they delight in pursuing holiness, abiding in the Lord, enjoying lasting joy in Him, and hoping to receive eternal life in the future;
Those whom the Lord loves love God and also love people; they are not quick to anger, and they do not repay evil with evil; because they know that the heavenly Father is full of mercy and lovingkindness, and anger, conflict, and discord are not pleasing to the Lord; therefore, they follow the Lord’s example, treating others with love and patience, and not seeking their own benefit; they carry a merciful heart toward others, value the salvation of people’s souls, and lovingly encourage and support their brothers and sisters;
Those whom the Lord loves hold firmly to their faith to the very end, and they do not shrink back when hardship comes, because they know they are walking on the right path the Lord has shown them; they understand that the training and lessons the Lord allows in their lives all come out of love, and are for the saving of their souls and the building up of their lives; therefore, they do not fix their eyes on the problem itself, nor do they complain or blame God, or let the troubles they face cause doubt toward Him to grow in their hearts; instead, they examine themselves to see where they are weak in the midst of trial, and they are willing to face and deal with their weakness, relying on the Lord’s grace to bravely overcome every trial;
The Lord’s light will shine on those who believe in Him, hold firmly to their faith, and walk on the path of uprightness; the Lord’s mercy and lovingkindness will watch over those who follow Him, and the peace that comes from God will enter their hearts; and on the journey of running the road to the kingdom of heaven, the Lord Himself will support and guide them, so that those who trust in Him will not stumble, until they enter the eternal kingdom God has prepared.
Scripture
1 John
Chapter 1 Verses 5-7
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you,
that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness,
we lie, and do not the truth.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,
we have fellowship one with another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
James
Chapter 4 Verse 8
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
Cleanse your hands, ye sinners;
and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Job
Chapter 28 Verse 28
And unto man he said,
Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;
and to depart from evil is understanding.
Hosea
Chapter 10 Verse 12
Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy;
break up your fallow ground:
for it is time to seek the LORD,
till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
Zephaniah
Chapter 2 Verse 3
Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth,
which have wrought his judgment;
seek righteousness, seek meekness:
it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.
