(2025.11.24 The Encouragement of the Holy Spirit)
Some of God’s chosen people were once on fire in the beginning of their faith, full of confidence. At that time, they longed for the truth, pursued the teachings of the Bible, could quiet their hearts in Me, draw near to Me, and listen to My instructions. But they did not realize that they were slowly slipping away on the path of salvation. Some believers, after receiving the baptism of salvation, treated baptism as a goal already reached, and then began focusing on their earthly careers. They obtained houses and properties, poured their thoughts into earning money, and spent their time on the things of this world. They thought these were God’s blessings, yet they did not use the truth to examine their hearts, nor notice the state of their faith after gaining the world. Their daily life kept spinning around worldly matters—laboring and worrying for their stomach. Even on the Sabbath, the holy day I blessed, they still worked for worldly gain. They chose the life of the world rather than the life I want to give them. So the connection between them and Me gradually loosened and eventually broke, like a kite whose string is cut. They tasted the benefits and attractions of the world, valued worldly things, and their hearts drifted far from Me.
They abandoned their first love and forgot the Creator of life. They forgot how God loved humanity and gave Himself so that people could be delivered from the world, no longer bound by the devil, no longer suffering and dying, for He gave Himself for all. In the beginning of faith, the path they should walk was the path of sanctification—building up their spiritual life, bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit, growing in spiritual maturity, walking with the Lord, and keeping holiness. But they turned away from this path of sanctification.
Their hearts were dragged by their own desires. They forgot God’s commandments and teachings, and were tempted by the devil—just like when the serpent said to the woman in the beginning: “Did God really say you must not eat from any tree in the garden?” and “You will not certainly die.” The devil uses evil cleverness to seize human weakness, speaks in ways that sound almost right, and tempts the heart. He uses the lust of the eyes so that people only see the benefits in front of them, unable to see that the devil is deceiving them, and they forget My instructions.
Therefore, do not listen to the world or the falsehoods mixed within it. And do not listen to the voice of your weak flesh, lest you fall into the devil’s trap and cause yourself to sin.
You must remember to listen to the God who “gave you life.” Since He gave you life, He does not want you to face death. God is the way, the truth, and the life. My word (the Scriptures) is for saving your soul and is true. My commandments are good. Pay attention to My commandments so you will know how to obey them and gain eternal life. Keep My word in your heart, so the devil cannot steal your heart and so you may guard your soul.
Do not lose the faith you had at first. Always remember God’s love and think about how He prepared the way of eternal life for humanity. Recall how the Lord chose you out of all peoples and led you to Him. Remember your first love, and also reflect on what you gained when you turned toward the world. Consider where your faith slipped and fell. May you acknowledge and repent for the wrong paths you walked, rely on the Lord, and gain strength to change yourself, to do the works you did at first, and return to My side.
Scripture
Revelation
Chapter 2 Verses 2-5
“I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance,
and how you cannot bear with those who are evil,
but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not,
and found them to be false.
I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name’s sake,
and you have not grown weary.
But I have this against you,
that you have abandoned the love you had at first.
Remember therefore from where you have fallen;
repent, and do the works you did at first.
If not, I will come to you
and remove your lampstand from its place,
unless you repent.”
1 John
Chapter 2 Verses 15-17
“Do not love the world
or the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world,
the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world—
the desires of the flesh
and the desires of the eyes
and pride of life—
is not from the Father
but is from the world.
And the world is passing away
along with its desires,
but whoever does the will of God
abides forever.”
James
Chapter 1 Verses 14-15
“But each person is tempted
when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.
Then desire when it has conceived
gives birth to sin,
and sin when it is fully grown
brings forth death.”
Galatians
Chapter 5 Verses 22-25
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love,
joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, self-control;
against such things there is no law.
And those who belong to Christ Jesus
have crucified the flesh
with its passions and desires.
If we live by the Spirit,
let us also keep in step with the Spirit.”
