(Oct. 23, 2025 – The Encouragement of the Holy Spirit)

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, so the words that come out of your mouth must be clean.

What you say affects not only others but also yourself.

If you watch over your mouth and tongue, you will keep yourself from trouble.

A single word can build someone’s spiritual life, but it can also cause great conflict or destroy what has been built.

So be careful.

Do not lie or speak falsehood.

Do not use “good intentions” as a reason to lie.

Speak the truth in love.

Let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no.

Whatever you say must come from an honest heart.

Do not bear false witness.

A false witness can harm others, and those who do such things will not escape judgment.

Do not let proud or boastful words come out of your mouth.

They bring no benefit to you.

Always stay humble and quiet in heart.

Do not become a gossip, for gossip often causes conflict.

Keep other people’s matters in confidence so that misunderstandings, slander, and hurt will not arise.

No filthy or worthless words should come out of your mouth.

Such words do not build people up but instead bring division and strife.

The devil loves division.

He is the one who slanders, accuses, stirs up trouble, and spreads rumors.

When bitterness, hatred, anger, or quarrels arise among you, evil words follow.

If you curse one another and cause harm, division opens a door for the devil to attack further.

He multiplies evil, corrupts the spiritual life of my people, weakens faith, and draws them away from me.

Be careful.

Always keep a heart of mercy and kindness, forgiving one another, and give no place to the devil.

Be wise and see through the devil’s schemes.

Do not fall into his traps.

Stop evil before it spreads.

Do not be the one who sets fires and causes destruction.

If you do not want evil to fall upon yourself, do not be someone who harms others.

May you always keep a merciful heart, love others as yourself, and become one who makes peace.

Scripture

James

Chapter 3 Verses 5–6

“So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things.

How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!

And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness.

The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body,

setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.”

Proverbs

Chapter 21 Verse 23

“Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue

keeps himself out of trouble.”

Proverbs

Chapter 12 Verse 22

“Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,

but those who act faithfully are his delight.”

Proverbs

Chapter 18 Verses 6–8

“A fool’s lips walk into a fight,

and his mouth invites a beating.

A fool’s mouth is his ruin,

and his lips are a snare to his soul.

The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels;

they go down into the inner parts of the body.”

Proverbs

Chapter 20 Verse 19

“Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets;

therefore do not associate with a simple babbler.”

Proverbs

Chapter 19 Verse 9

“A false witness will not go unpunished,

and he who breathes out lies will perish.”

Ephesians

Chapter 4 Verses 25–27, 29–32

“Therefore, having put away falsehood,

let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor,

for we are members one of another.

Be angry and do not sin;

do not let the sun go down on your anger,

and give no opportunity to the devil.

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths,

but only such as is good for building up,

as fits the occasion,

that it may give grace to those who hear.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,

by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander

be put away from you, along with all malice.

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted,

forgiving one another,

as God in Christ forgave you.”
