Where did heaven and earth and all things come from? What is their origin? You should come to know the God who created all things. The source of everything comes from God. He is real. He is the Beginning and the End, and He lives forever.

Before God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was formless and empty. There was no shape, no order, and darkness covered the deep. There was no life in it. The Spirit of God was moving over the waters. God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. He separated the light from the darkness. He also made two great lights and created the stars, placing them in the heavens to shine upon the whole earth.

Everything He created was prepared for mankind. All that He made was good, perfect, pleasing, abundant, and full of blessing. How great is the love He has shown to mankind—its length, width, height, and depth. It is abundant and never changes. He has given this love to the people He created, to all the nations of the earth.

God is light, and He is the source of life. He desires to shine upon every person. When light is within a person, that person has life. Because of the light, people no longer walk in darkness, no longer share in sin, and are no longer controlled by sin, but receive the light of life.

God is light. He can enlighten the eyes of a person’s heart, helping them understand God’s calling and the hope of eternal life. They are no longer spiritually blind and unable to see the path before them. They are no longer led by the world onto the road that leads to destruction. The light guides people onto the straight path and leads them toward brightness.

He does not want people to remain in darkness forever, for darkness is where fear, evil, and sin dwell. People should come out of darkness so that they may receive peace in the Lord. In the future, God will shine upon us with His eternal light, giving us everlasting joy and life.

People are only temporary travelers in this world. Physical life is limited and short. But the soul within us—the real person inside—has an eternal destination waiting beyond this life.

While living in this world, people will face temptations that come from the devil. If there is no light in a person’s heart, they cannot resist the devil or overcome temptation by relying on human strength alone. In the end, their life on earth becomes a failure, and they cannot receive the crown of life that God gives.

As people seek eternal life, God also allows them to go through trials. Even when a person is in darkness, if they are willing to accept the light and remain in it, then even if they are temporarily surrounded by darkness, with the Lord’s presence and the strength He provides, they can still come out of darkness and enter into the light.

Because of God’s love, we have light during the day, and even at night there is light to guide us so that we do not lose our way. Have the eyes of your heart also been enlightened, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead you on the path you should walk and in the direction you should go? If a person follows the Lord, they will receive the light of life during their days on earth. And God Himself will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will come to an end.

Scripture

Genesis
Chapter 1 Verses 1-3

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”

John
Chapter 8 Verse 12

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

1 John
Chapter 1 Verses 5-10

“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light,
and in him is no darkness at all.

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness,
we lie, and do not the truth:

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,
we have fellowship one with another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned,
we make him a liar,
and his word is not in us.”

Psalms
Chapter 27 Verse 1

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
