(2026.01.11 – The Encouragement of the Holy Spirit)

Your forefather Abraham was called by God to leave his homeland and step onto a journey of faith. He lived in tents, built altars, and called on the name of the Lord. His life was not lived for earthly things, but in hope of a heavenly homeland, as he waited for the city with foundations, the city designed and built by God.

In the same way today, when God calls a person, it is because He desires to give salvation and blessing. The question is whether a person is willing to hold on to God’s promises—whether, upon hearing the gospel, they will believe, walk not by sight but by faith, and move forward just as Abraham set out by faith. Now you also have been called to enter the kingdom that God has established on earth—the church where the Holy Spirit is present. You are to let the Holy Spirit guide your steps, and rely on the strength the Lord supplies, to break free from your former fleshly and unholy way of life, and enter into a new life where the Lord is with you.

In the past, although God’s chosen people entered the land of Canaan and received the land He had promised, they did not fully obey His commands. They failed to remove the people and detestable practices that did not belong to God. They were not set apart as holy; instead, they lived among the pagan nations, imitated their behavior, and learned their customs. They did not tear down the idols, and their hearts were not fully devoted to God. They wanted the blessings of the promise, yet they were unwilling to completely obey the Lord’s word and remove sin. As a result, the unclean things they failed to eliminate became snares that bound them, causing them to remain in constant conflict, corruption, and God’s discipline—even while living in the promised land.

This is just like people today who have received grace, been baptized, and obtained salvation. Although they believe in the Lord and participate in church life, they have not truly been set apart as holy. They still live according to the flesh, cling to the world, and love money, power, status, and reputation. The idols in their hearts have not been removed, and their lives are no different from those of unbelievers. As a result, their days are still marked by unrest, and their spiritual lives cannot enter into true rest.

Those who become spiritual people, though living in the world, no longer let their hearts remain in the world. They are no longer controlled by the devil, but instead remove the idols in their hearts, put off the old sinful self, and become victorious in Christ. Since God is holy, His children must also be holy in all they do. They must truly abide in the Lord and enter the rest that God gives—leaving behind the old days and being renewed in the Lord, gaining a life that is restored, beautiful, and blessed.

As for life’s journey, if one closely follows the Lord Jesus step by step, even though the outward body gradually wastes away, the inner person is renewed day by day, and spiritual life becomes fresh and powerful. With a genuine hope in the heart and the presence of the Lord, one can live a deeply satisfied life. If a person is willing to listen to the Lord’s word and submit to His guidance, each step will not go astray, and they will walk on the path the Lord has prepared. Their days will be peaceful and secure. God leads the children He loves continually forward—by His grace overcoming weakness, by His power becoming strong—so that the hope we hold becomes reality, and one day we will see it with our own eyes.

Scripture

1 Peter

Chapter 1 Verses 5–9, 13–21

Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation

ready to be revealed in the last time.

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be,

ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth,

though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory

at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Whom having not seen, ye love;

in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing,

ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober,

and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you

at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts

in your ignorance:

But as he which hath called you is holy,

so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons

judgeth according to every man’s work,

pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things,

as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

But with the precious blood of Christ,

as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world,

but was manifest in these last times for you,

Who by him do believe in God,

that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory;

that your faith and hope might be in God.

Numbers

Chapter 33 Verses 52–53, 55–56

Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you,

and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images,

and quite pluck down all their high places:

And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein:

for I have given you the land to possess it.

But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you;

then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them

shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides,

and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you,

as I thought to do unto them.
