No matter how long or short a person’s life may be, and whether the days they experience are joyful or sorrowful, the most beautiful days are surely the days when they walk with the Lord. When a person walks with the Lord, the Lord is with them and watches over them. Although they will still face unknown paths and may not know what choice to make when they come to a crossroads in life, their heart can remain at peace because they know that God is in control of every day. The Holy Spirit will guide them and remind them of the path they should take. If a person pays close attention, lives according to the truth, and clearly understands that their own strength is limited and that they have weaknesses, they will be willing to entrust their whole life into God’s hands, follow His will, and walk on the path He has prepared for them.
Are you willing to walk with the Lord? If your answer is yes, then you must understand what kind of person is able to walk with Him.
A person must have faith and be willing to lay down the burdens they carry. A life that still belongs to the flesh and continues to live in sin cannot walk with the Lord, because that person’s eyes and thoughts are filled with the world. They are attracted to it, bound by it, and their steps have become heavy. If a person is unwilling to leave the world behind, they cannot follow in the footsteps of the Lord Jesus. According to the time God has appointed, they must go through the things they are meant to experience. Sometimes they may move forward quickly, and sometimes their steps may slow down because they are going through trials. Yet God is with those who trust in Him and depend on Him. He accompanies them through everything they must experience and continues to guide them along the path He has prepared for them.
Christians today may believe in the Lord and confess with their mouths that God exists, yet they attend church only occasionally and pray only from time to time. Their daily lives, thoughts, and choices still belong to the flesh. They focus on earthly things, keep their minds on earthly matters, and make decisions according to them. Such faith has become nothing more than an outward form and a habit of attending gatherings. They may have biblical knowledge, but they do not truly obey God or honor the Lord as great. They do not love God’s word, sincerely pursue the truth, or pray with devotion. God’s word is not hidden in their hearts, and they do not live a life that puts His word into practice. Neither have they truly left behind their former worldly way of life. How can such people live out a life that has been born again and renewed, and bring glory to the Lord’s name? How can such a life walk with the holy God?
Walking with the Lord means being connected to Him in daily life. It means that a person’s spiritual life is truly alive and no longer living in sin. They no longer follow the world, share the same values as the world, or join the world in its sinful ways. Instead, they are set apart as holy.
Walking with the Lord does not mean asking the Lord to follow your plans for life or to lead you along the path according to your own desires. It means being willing to let go of yourself, obey the Lord’s guidance, and walk on the path that pleases Him. In this way, the path a person walks in this world is no longer one they must search out by relying on their own intelligence and strength. When a person walks with the Lord, whether in laughter or sorrow, in favorable circumstances or hardship, the Lord guides and accompanies them all the way. When they look only to Him and follow in His footsteps, they can rely on the strength the Lord gives them and walk steadily on the path He has prepared.
