As we reflect on the Ten Plagues of Egypt, before the final plague—the death of all the firstborn—came upon Egypt and before God led His people out of Egypt, God first commanded His people to keep the Passover. They were to prepare a lamb without blemish and slaughter it at the appointed time. Each household was to take some of the lamb’s blood and put it on the two doorposts and the top of the doorway. When God struck down all the firstborn people and animals in Egypt, He would see the blood on the doorway and pass over that household, sparing it from the plague. God also commanded them to eat the roasted lamb that night together with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

This lamb without blemish foreshadowed the Lord Jesus Christ. It also reminds us today that before God carries out His righteous judgment in the last days, we need to rely on the precious blood of the Lamb to escape the punishment brought by sin and the destruction of our souls. We must also understand that since we have been redeemed by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus and have received salvation, we should also do our part by following the example of the Lord Jesus, pursuing holiness, becoming blameless children of God, and living lives that are set apart for Him.

On the path of faith, we must also be willing to endure trials and learn obedience through them, allowing God to continually refine our lives so that we may become holy and united with the Lord. We must remove the impurities that still remain in our lives, along with every sin and sinful desire that does not belong to God. We should also remember how we were once under the control of the world, living without true peace or hope, spending our days in emptiness, hardship, and sorrow, only to face death in the end. Now that the Lord has saved us, we should treasure even more the salvation we have received.

God wants us to understand that during our time on earth, we should prepare ourselves to walk the path that leads to eternal life and wait for the day when we return to our heavenly home. We should not spend all our time and energy on worldly things. Instead, we should live more for God and complete the work He has entrusted to us.

We should also examine our lives. Our hearts should be faithful and fully devoted to God, no longer loving the world with all our hearts. Our eyes should see the needs of others as well as our own shortcomings. We should examine whether we are still controlled by sin and keep our eyes from being fixed on the empty glory of the world. Our mouths should praise God and speak words that build others up. We should be honest, not lie, not spread other people’s private matters, and not say things that hurt others. Our hands should do good, serve others, and do what pleases God. We should not use our hands to do what is wrong, nor should we use them only to store up earthly possessions for ourselves. Our feet should walk on the right path, stay away from sin, and follow the Lord to the end.

In this way, our lives may be pleasing to God and filled with righteousness and holiness. We should offer ourselves to God as a living sacrifice, worship Him with a completely pure heart, and serve Him with sincerity and without hypocrisy.

Being saved by the Lord is not the end of the journey of faith; it is the beginning of a transformed life. We should no longer live according to our old way of life, but continually allow the Lord to renew us. We should draw closer to God, read the Bible, pursue the truth, and understand and obey God’s teachings. We must continue moving forward on the path of holiness, faithfully keep God’s commandments, and not allow sin, the world, or our own sinful desires to become our master, so that our lives may belong completely to the Lord.

Scripture

Exodus
Chapter 12 Verses 5-9

Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year:
ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:

And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month:
and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

And they shall take of the blood,
and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses,
wherein they shall eat it.

And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire,
and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water,
but roast with fire;
his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.

2 Corinthians
Chapter 7 Verse 1

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved,
let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit,
perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

1 Thessalonians
Chapter 5 Verses 23-24

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly;
and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body
be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Faithful is he that calleth you,
who also will do it.
