(January 23, 2026 — The Encouragement of the Holy Spirit)

As children who obey the Lord, the heavenly Father is always thinking of His children. He desires for people to receive the eternal blessings of heaven and to give His children what is best. The Lord has chosen us and set us apart from the world. With His precious blood He has cleansed us from all uncleanness, so that we may become holy and share in the grace of the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, we should guard ourselves, stay away from the world, and live a life set apart as holy. Just as Scripture says, since the One who called you is holy, you also must be holy in all that you do. It is also written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” So as God’s children, we should be determined to walk the path of sanctification.

Do not walk the way of the world, and do not let the values of the world shape you. In the past, when we did not know God, we acted in ignorance, with hearts full of worldly greed and desires, doing all kinds of things that do not please God and do not match His righteousness. But after believing in the Lord, we must live in a way that matches our identity as Christians. Since our lives have been set apart from the world and no longer belong to it, we should turn away from the empty way of life handed down by this generation. We must carefully examine every way of living that has no foundation in truth, no eternal value, cannot build up our spiritual life, cannot lead us to eternal life, and goes against God’s standard of righteousness. We should no longer live each day according to the old life that had nothing to do with God.

Even though we have not seen the Lord Jesus walking on the earth with our own eyes, nor followed His footsteps during His time in this world, we are like the ancestors of old who obeyed God’s call by faith. Just as Abraham obeyed when he was called and went out, not knowing where he was going, he did not move forward by what he could see, but by faith. In the same way, today we do not live by what we see around us, but by God’s promises. Even when we see injustice, confusion, and hardship in reality, and even when our hearts feel troubled and struggle, we do not give up trusting in God. Instead, we learn to hold firmly to our faith while we wait, so that we will not be shaken. We know that God’s works have their appointed time. Though they may seem delayed from a human point of view, they will never fail. As we rely on the Lord, we become rich in faith. We believe because God is faithful and keeps His covenant. We rejoice because the Lord is with us. While we patiently wait, we still hold on to the hope of the kingdom of heaven, and we have a deep joy that comes from the Lord.

Why do we live in this life, and for whom do we live? When we come to know God, our direction and way of living are renewed according to the teaching of the truth, and we become new people in the Lord. Since our lives now belong to the Lord, we should be self-controlled and watchful, disciplining our hearts and preparing ourselves. In this way, when Jesus Christ is revealed, we may receive the grace we hope for—the grace that the Lord Jesus Christ has prepared for us.

Scripture

Leviticus

Chapter 20 Verses 7-8, 22, 26

“So consecrate yourselves, and be holy, for I am the LORD your God.

Keep my statutes and do them; I am the LORD who sanctifies you.

You shall therefore keep all my statutes and all my rules and do them,

that the land where I am bringing you to live may not vomit you out.

You shall be holy to me, for I the LORD am holy

and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine.”

Habakkuk

Chapter 1 Verses 5-6

“Look among the nations, and see;

wonder and be astounded.

For I am doing a work in your days

that you would not believe if told.

For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans,

that bitter and hasty nation,

who march through the breadth of the earth,

to seize dwellings not their own.”

Habakkuk

Chapter 2 Verses 1-4

“I will take my stand at my watchpost

and station myself on the tower,

and look out to see what he will say to me,

and what I will answer concerning my complaint.

And the LORD answered me:

‘Write the vision;

make it plain on tablets,

so he may run who reads it.

For still the vision awaits its appointed time;

it hastens to the end—it will not lie.

If it seems slow, wait for it;

it will surely come; it will not delay.

Behold, his soul is puffed up;

it is not upright within him,

but the righteous shall live by his faith.’”

Psalm

Chapter 73 Verses 25-28

“Whom have I in heaven but you?

And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.

My flesh and my heart may fail,

but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

For behold, those who are far from you shall perish;

you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you.

But for me it is good to be near God;

I have made the Lord GOD my refuge,

that I may tell of all your works.”
