To truly gain freedom in the Lord, you must not only be cleansed by His precious blood, but also nail your fleshly desires and greed to the cross—putting your sinful nature to death. A believer who has received salvation must experience a change in life and begin to walk on the path of holiness.

Before you knew Me, you were led by the knowledge of this world. Your days were no different from those of others—you followed worldly customs, valued earthly things, and were entangled by them. You were drawn by the splendor of the world, loving what you loved and doing whatever you wanted. Your heart was filled with lust, greed, and various desires. You were bound, without freedom, carrying the heavy burden of sin.

If after baptism you still carry these burdens, how can you walk the road to the Kingdom of Heaven? Examine your heart to see whether you have truly separated yourself from the world, or if you still remain in it. Those who belong to Me will find rest in Me—they will experience calm, peace, and true freedom. If you have not yet received it, reflect on yourself and think carefully about where the problem lies.

Those who belong to the Lord must no longer return to being slaves of sin. Do not live according to the flesh, chasing after worldly things to satisfy your desires. Cast off the entanglements of the world—do not worry about worldly matters that distract you from walking the heavenly path. Entrust everything to God. Live and walk by the Spirit. Do not do evil or anything that harms your spiritual life. Put off your old ways—the sinful habits that lead to corruption—and use My word, the truth of the Bible, and God’s standard of righteousness to remind yourself to walk the path of righteousness each day.

When you face trials, examine your thoughts, your intentions, and your actions. See where they fail to meet God’s standard of righteousness. Seize every opportunity to renew your spirit and bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit. From each test, discover what needs to be changed and recognize the parts of your nature that do not please God. Take off every piece of impurity—the heavy burdens of sin—and put on what is holy and righteous. Clothe yourself with Christ, become a holy citizen of God’s kingdom, and share in the inheritance of Heaven.

Scripture

Galatians

Chapter 5 Verse 1

“For freedom Christ has set us free;

stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”

Galatians

Chapter 5 Verses 24-25

“And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh

with its passions and desires.

If we live by the Spirit,

let us also keep in step with the Spirit.”

Psalm

Chapter 139 Verses 23-24

“Search me, O God, and know my heart!

Try me and know my thoughts!

And see if there be any grievous way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting!”

Galatians

Chapter 5 Verses 19-21

“Now the works of the flesh are evident:

sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,

idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger,

rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these.

I warn you, as I warned you before,

that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Ephesians

Chapter 4 Verses 17-24

“Now this I say and testify in the Lord,

that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds.

They are darkened in their understanding,

alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them,

due to their hardness of heart.

They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality,

greedy to practice every kind of impurity.

But that is not the way you learned Christ!—

assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him,

as the truth is in Jesus,

to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life

and is corrupt through deceitful desires,

and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,

and to put on the new self,

created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”
