(2026.07.23. Comfort from the Holy Spirit)
The devil does not exist to bring people any good, but to bring destruction. Therefore, do not love anything he uses in this world to deceive people.
His work on earth is to destroy people’s spiritual lives and keep them from returning to their eternal home in heaven. He wants those who once believed in the Lord and belonged to God to leave God, turn to love the world, and no longer love God. He also wants those who are already unwilling to accept salvation and have no God in their hearts to continue living as though God has nothing to do with their lives, indulging themselves and doing whatever they want.
He uses the prosperity and false beauty of the world to deceive people, making them believe that these things are the true value of life. Yet no matter how prosperous and beautiful the world may appear, these things are not offered out of love for people. Instead, they are meant to take away people’s time, keep their eyes focused on the world, and cause them to live according to the values of the world, darkening their minds and preventing their souls from being born again. He wants people to remain in sin throughout their days on earth, even until their last breath. He does not want them to accept the salvation of the Lord Jesus or walk in God’s righteous ways. Their sins remain unforgiven, and in the end, they are led to death. They spend their lives living for the world and ultimately pay for it with their own souls.
Through all kinds of worldly pursuits, the devil keeps people’s minds focused on earthly things all day long, caring only about the needs of this life and spending most of their time working and pursuing worldly things. For the sake of making a living, fame, personal gain, status, and money, they constantly worry, make plans, and rush around, gradually becoming exhausted in both body and spirit. The busier their hearts become, the harder it is for them to quiet themselves and come before God. They have less and less time to worship God and draw near to Him, and it becomes even harder for them to hear the Lord’s voice and understand His will. The devil then takes advantage of their weakness, making the weak even weaker and the weary even more weary. Gradually, they lose their watchfulness and no longer resist sin and temptation. In the end, they fail to walk in the true way and fall into destruction.
Such people do not think about the matters of their souls. They are constantly fed by the world and therefore lack spiritual wisdom. They think that this present life is all there is, so they spend all their strength throughout their lives trying to gain things for this life, treating what they hold in their hands as their security in life. The devil causes people to gain the world but lose their own souls. Through this kind of deception, he causes people to spend their entire lives chasing temporary things that will eventually perish, only to lose eternal life in the end and fall into destruction.
The world today is like Pharaoh in Egypt who once kept the Israelites under his control. Pharaoh burdened God’s people with hard labor, forcing them to work day after day without freedom. In the same way, the devil today uses all kinds of fleshly desires, temptations, and deceptions to bring people’s hearts under his control and bind them with material desires. He keeps people from drawing near to God, preventing spiritually sick souls from receiving healing.
He also does everything he can to destroy God’s household and attack those who belong to God, including preachers, church elders and deacons, church leaders, and those who shepherd the flock. He uses every possible means to disrupt God’s work and cause more people to stumble. In this evil generation of the last days, you must stay watchful and pray, be careful and self-controlled, recognize the devil’s schemes, and resist him through the truth and power God gives you. Stand firm in the Lord, hold on to your faith, and continue until you have completed the journey back to your heavenly home.
