(2026.05.04. Comfort from the Holy Spirit)
Everything God has prepared for people is good and pleasing in His sight. What He wants to give us is freedom from toil, worry, and sorrow, peace for our hearts, and entrance into His eternal rest. When a person seeks the truth, pursues righteousness, and follows the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they are able to see with spiritual eyes what the world cannot see. They come to understand that what God gives is abundant grace and eternal life.
Yet people in the world do not believe in God or worship their Creator. Even some who call themselves Christians still have unbelief in their hearts. They turn away from the Lord’s way, depart from the living God, and stumble in their spiritual lives. This is not merely weakness. It shows that their spiritual life is still controlled by a sinful nature and remains trapped in sin. Only the outward appearance of faith remains, while their spiritual life is no longer abiding in the Lord. Their lives are no different from those of the world. Their hearts are still attached to this world, and they have never truly entered into life with the Lord. They are unwilling to truly know God or understand His will. Instead of seeking the Creator who gave them life, they tightly hold on to the world, follow the world, trust in the world, and chase after things that last only for a moment. They think they have gained something, but after spending their lives working for the world, they end up with nothing but emptiness. How tragic that is.
From the way God prepared everything people needed from the beginning of creation, we can know that He never intended for people to live in endless labor. Instead, He wanted them to freely enjoy the blessings He gives and to enjoy eternal rest in His kingdom. Why would anyone throw away such wonderful grace? Yet if a person wants to receive this blessing, their life must change, and their heart must no longer remain attached to this empty world. During their days on earth, they should choose to work for eternal life and for the things of heaven, building up their spiritual life and becoming holy and mature.
God gave people life not so they would only focus on eating, drinking, marrying, and waiting for their bodies to slowly grow weak and die while sighing that this is all life has to offer. Instead, He wants people to have hope, to look farther ahead with spiritual eyes, and to receive eternal life. While we are still living on this earth, we should make every effort to live lives that are honorable and valuable. Do not let your life end in emptiness and become a wasted life.
The day is drawing near. We should think carefully about what this short life is truly worth living for. During the time we have left, we should understand God’s purpose for our lives and do our very best to finish the work He has entrusted to us. Do not be like those who do not value eternal life, spending their whole lives eating, drinking, seeking pleasure, and working only for wealth, fame, and success to satisfy themselves for a little while. Ever since Adam sinned, sin entered the world, and humanity lost true peace. Only by knowing God, living in the Lord each day, and walking in godliness can we receive God’s blessings, enjoy His favor in this life, and inherit eternal life.
After Adam and Eve sinned, they realized they were naked and felt ashamed. People today should ask themselves whether they, like Adam and Eve, recognize their own sins and feel ashamed of them. When a person becomes aware of their sin, they will begin to hate darkness, willingly receive the light, repent, break free from the power of sin, and escape the judgment that is to come. We should firmly hold on to the salvation God has given us, so that during our time on earth we may be clothed in holy white garments instead of being found naked. Then we will joyfully welcome the Lord when He returns and look forward to entering the eternal kingdom of heaven.
Scripture
Isaiah
Chapter 6 Verses 9-10
And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
Psalms
Chapter 119 Verses 9-12, 15-16, 18-19
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
Isaiah
Chapter 9 Verses 2, 6-7
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
