Encouragement from the Lord Jesus

No matter how much difficulty, sadness, or burden you face, leave it all to me, always remember that you are not alone, you will not be alone, because I am here, and I am with you—2009.12.20

Sometimes we wonder what the future holds. (1 Corinthians 2:9 “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him.)

We do not know what God has arranged for us, it is beyond human knowledge. But how can we walk on the Lord’s path with faith? Where does faith come from? We often pray for God to give us faith. Perhaps this is not the only way or the first method to seek, because not everyone believes in God. Faith comes from observing things. By carefully observing everything that God has created for us, He knows our needs and has created all the beauty in the world. Think about it, will God overlook us? We need to make faith something we can touch every day. Look at the things around us and you will know how much God loves us. In Luke chapter 7, there is a mention of the faith of a centurion. His servant was sick and he asked Jesus to come and save his servant. Just say a word and my servant will be healed. Think about how great this faith is. The centurion believed that with just one word from Jesus, his sick servant would be healed. On the other hand, where is our faith?

Nowadays many people want to commit suicide. Is suicide brave or cowardly? Some people commit suicide for honor because they feel that their reputation has been damaged and use suicide to prove their innocence. So why do people commit suicide? We can only guess that most people who want to commit suicide are lonely; perhaps they have depression; perhaps they have too many burdens to bear and no one can help them. Some people get caught up in it and sink deeper and deeper. No matter how others comfort them, they cannot hear their voices. As a result, they keep walking alone and become more and more deaf to their voices. They feel that there is no way out in this world and that there is no meaning in living on. So they choose death and think that as long as they choose death, everything can be solved. (John 14:18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”) When you have bad thoughts, don’t forget that no matter how difficult our situation is or where we are, God will not leave us. Don’t think that you are alone. No matter where you go, God will be there watching over you. You are definitely not alone. God will always be with you. (Romans 8:34 “Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died–more than that, who was raised to life–is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”) Therefore, even if something big happens, even if no one in the world knows our situation and no one prays for us, there is still someone listening to our prayers – Jesus Christ. If you believe in intercession by brothers and sisters, then you should believe even more in intercession by Jesus Christ because He will never leave you as an orphan. When you feel that the burden is too heavy for you to bear, just think of Jesus praying for you and know that God has taken our pain away. Then let’s give everything to the Lord without worry. He will give us strength to keep moving forward and this strength will grow bigger and bigger.

Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters.

He restores my soul.

He leads me in paths of righteousness

for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil,

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff,

they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies;

you anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life,

and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord

forever.

This is the most familiar psalm to everyone but also the most beautiful and comforting to my heart. God leads us all along the way. The life of God’s son is like that of ordinary people – he also grows old, gets sick and dies – he also walks through the valley of death’s shadow but what sets us apart from ordinary people is that we are not afraid of harm because we have the Lord with us. We thought that with the Lord leading us we would not encounter enemies but before we encountered enemies we enjoyed God’s love – why did God prepare a feast before me in the presence of my enemies? How can we eat it? Think about it, if we keep looking at the enemy, of course we will be afraid and unable to eat. So why not turn around and look back at the Lord? With the Lord there, just eat! God is standing behind us, so what is there to be afraid of? The power of faith in the Lord is really great. As long as we do not leave God, goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives. So even if we encounter difficult things again, tell ourselves that it’s okay, we have the Lord with us. May God give us the faith to face the future and the present pain. We must always look up to Him. Dear Lord, thank you for your love and for never leaving us. Thank you for never letting us be alone.
