(2026.02.10. The Encouragement of the Holy Spirit)
Do not become careless just because people live in comfort, eating and enjoying life, and then start to take lightly the Lord’s promise; do not ignore the signs of the Lord’s return while living in ease, nor fail to realize that we are now in the last days, thinking that everything has remained the same since creation and that heaven and earth continue as usual.
Do not judge the future based on your present circumstances, and so look lightly on what God has determined will surely come to pass; for the day of the Lord will come like a thief, suddenly and without people knowing; therefore, hold firmly to the Lord’s word, keep it in your heart, and stay watchful at all times; otherwise, after living in comfort for too long, seeing the world running as usual and society seeming stable and prosperous, you may become satisfied with this present life, forget God’s sovereignty in creation and rule, and neglect that everyone will one day give an account before the Lord, and that God will carry out judgment.
You must understand that since ancient times, heaven and earth were established by God’s word, and all things exist under the power of His word; whatever God has spoken will surely be fulfilled, and not a single word will fall to the ground; just like in the days of Noah, when the earth was filled with sin, God destroyed that ungodly generation with a flood; at that time, God warned people through Noah and commanded them to prepare the ark, but people did not believe; they continued eating, drinking, marrying, and living their normal lives until judgment came; God’s word will surely be fulfilled, and a sinful generation cannot escape judgment; although many people were alive at that time, only eight who entered the ark were saved; this history is recorded in the Bible as a warning to people and as a foreshadowing of the coming judgment; just as that sinful generation received righteous judgment, so will all people on earth face judgment; as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days when the Son of Man comes; therefore, you should observe God’s works in the Bible and receive warning and reminder.
Do not measure the Lord’s delay by the time of the physical world, so that doubt and even wavering arise in your heart; you must understand that with the Lord, one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day; in the material world, everything is limited; but God is from everlasting to everlasting—He is the beginning and the end, the eternal and unchanging Lord; when God’s appointed time comes, what He has determined will surely be fulfilled; the Lord’s promise has not yet been revealed because of God’s patience—He is not willing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance; God is still patiently waiting for people to turn back; but when that day comes, the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and everything will be burned up and come to nothing—at that time, how will people still have a chance to receive salvation?
There is nothing eternal on earth; history will come to an end; only God’s kingdom in heaven will remain forever; may you long for and hope for the heavenly home and the coming of the new heaven and new earth, so that you may live each day on earth with a prepared heart, with reverence and holy conduct, not being defiled, staying away from sin, and striving to bear the fruit of life; so that before the Lord Jesus returns, or before your own days on earth come to an end, you are already prepared, and in the future you may come boldly before the throne of grace and be able to stand firm.
Scripture
Psalms
Chapter 33 Verses 6, 9, 11-15, 18-19
“By the word of the LORD were the heavens made;
and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
For he spake, and it was done;
he commanded, and it stood fast.
The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever,
the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD;
and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
The LORD looketh from heaven;
he beholdeth all the sons of men.
From the place of his habitation he looketh
upon all the inhabitants of the earth.
He fashioneth their hearts alike;
he considereth all their works.
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him,
upon them that hope in his mercy;
To deliver their soul from death,
and to keep them alive in famine.”
Genesis
Chapter 6 Verses 5-9
“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth,
and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth,
and it grieved him at his heart.
And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth;
both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air;
for it repenteth me that I have made them.
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
These are the generations of Noah:
Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations,
and Noah walked with God.”
Genesis
Chapter 7 Verses 22-23
“All in whose nostrils was the breath of life,
of all that was in the dry land, died.
And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground,
both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven;
and they were destroyed from the earth:
and Noah only remained alive,
and they that were with him in the ark.”
Matthew
Chapter 24 Verses 42-44
“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known
in what watch the thief would come,
he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Therefore be ye also ready:
for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
2 Peter
Chapter 3 Verses 7-9
“But the heavens and the earth, which are now,
by the same word are kept in store,
reserved unto fire against the day of judgment
and perdition of ungodly men.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing,
that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years,
and a thousand years as one day.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise,
as some men count slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward,
not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance.”
