(2026.08.07. Comfort from the Holy Spirit)
Everyone on earth—whether they do not know God, do not believe in the Lord Jesus, have not yet received salvation, or already believe in the Lord—should pay attention to the changes and turmoil in this world. Whether they are disasters in the environment or conflicts among people, we should stay alert and take them to heart. We must understand that this evil world, under the control of the devil, is moving step by step toward destruction.
The ten plagues that came upon Egypt, as recorded in the Bible, serve as a warning to people not to remain stubborn and refuse to obey God’s commands. God wants to lead people into a life of peace and security, free from turmoil and filled with His presence. The question is whether people are willing to accept His guidance.
God is full of mercy and love. He continually gives people opportunities to turn back to Him and gives them free will to make their own choices. Through trials, He wants people to choose the path of righteousness instead of remaining in days filled with hardship, sorrow, and turmoil, so that they may find rest in the Lord and have the hope of their heavenly home.
Before the plagues came, God repeatedly warned Pharaoh of Egypt and commanded him to let God’s people leave Egypt to worship Him. God clearly told him beforehand what disasters would come if he refused.
But Pharaoh hardened his heart and continued to do things his own way, calling upon his magicians to perform their magic. God allowed these things to happen until even the magicians could no longer stand against what God was doing, showing that human power is truly limited. When people rebel again and again, they not only put themselves in danger but also drag others down with them.
Today, God also repeatedly warns people through the plagues and disasters happening throughout the world. This world cannot be controlled simply by human power.
If God wills for even a mighty mountain to be moved, it will be moved. If He wills for it to come to nothing, it can disappear in an instant. If God wills for the land to be flooded, it will be flooded; if fire comes down from heaven, the earth will burn.
Because of human corruption and wickedness, this world is moving more quickly toward destruction. People cannot restore it by their own strength, nor can they stop what God intends to accomplish.
When people see the turmoil in the world, they should understand that the day of the Lord Jesus’ return is drawing near. They must wake up and realize that nothing on this earth can last forever and that destruction can come in an instant.
Do not place your hope in this world that will be shaken. Instead, seek something far more secure—the kingdom that can never be shaken.
The saving grace that comes through repentance has already been placed before us. Take God’s word to heart. Do not think that you are capable enough to decide everything for yourself, because people are weak by nature, and when they rely on themselves, they can easily follow their own desires. Do not continue to be someone who refuses to be taught.
One day, this world will come to an end. But God has already prepared a heavenly home and is waiting for His children to return home.
Before that day comes, God continues to show mercy and love, patiently enduring people’s rebellion and waiting for them to turn back to Him, so that He may give them grace and eternal life. Do not go through disasters and still refuse to learn, only to lose the precious salvation God has given.
Scripture
Exodus
Chapter 34 Verses 6-7
And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed,
The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious,
longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
Keeping mercy for thousands,
forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin,
and that will by no means clear the guilty;
visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children,
and upon the children’s children,
unto the third and to the fourth generation.
2 Peter
Chapter 3 Verses 9-13
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise,
as some men count slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward,
not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night;
in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise,
and the elements shall melt with fervent heat,
the earth also and the works that are therein
shall be burned up.
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved,
what manner of persons ought ye to be
in all holy conversation and godliness,
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God,
wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved,
and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
Nevertheless we, according to his promise,
look for new heavens and a new earth,
wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Hebrews
Chapter 12 Verses 25-28
See that ye refuse not him that speaketh.
For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth,
much more shall not we escape,
if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
Whose voice then shook the earth:
but now he hath promised, saying,
Yet once more I shake not the earth only,
but also heaven.
And this word, Yet once more,
signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken,
as of things that are made,
that those things which cannot be shaken
may remain.
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved,
let us have grace,
whereby we may serve God acceptably
with reverence and godly fear.
